The LEGENDS And Saving the Rainforest Orchid, by Lia Ginno

This book has 214 pages and is aimed at 9 years PLUS.

Adventure
:

The LEGENDS, Katelin and Calum, both embark on another fantastic adventure when dolphins call them deep into the Amazon rainforest.
An archaeologist unaware of its catastrophic powers has stolen a crystal skull.
Racing to the rescue, the children encounter a sinister plot to exploit the rainforest’s legendary orchid.
In a race against time to find the skull and save the orchids, Katelin and Calum are swept into a dangerous world of spiritual beings, pink dolphins and a mysterious tribe of female warriors who are protecting biblical artifacts.

Katelin held her breath, anger seething again in her brain; what was this about orchids? Why had he got them? What was he playing at? What was this about a riverboat – and who was Dr. Eval?

“People have searched for the lost city ever since. Part of Atlantis is in the ridge of the Andes now and the other part is submerged in the Atlantic Ocean. Most of the people who live in the Andes are direct descendants of the original inhabitants of Atlantis. They have twenty-five per cent more blood that is richer in red cells, and a heart that is proportionately larger than ordinary people’s, and larger lungs with enhanced capacity to take in oxygen from the atmosphere.

Silently Grandpa emerged from the rainforest, striding towards them with some urgency. He had news: the dolphins had followed Dr. Eval’s launch, the River Witch.
It was now moored up one of the rivers off the Amazon having left Iquitos in the early hours and slunk up river in the dark. But it had not escaped the dolphins and they had reported to Grandpa, telling him of the boat’s position.

Katelin looked intently at the circular object Elian was trying to conceal, a small frown of concentration creasing her brow. “It looks like a captured piece of the night sky with stars sparkling in it.”

There are several myths and legends connected with them. The Old Testament tells of fair-haired giants as tall as cedar trees.

“Let them go Kat,” Calum said, seeing how cross she had become. “Do you know how little time we have left? They’re not worth the anger of the Sacred Puma,” he added nervously.
